Bender Art Contest.

I believe everyone of us is a bender of every element in some way – so everyone is the avatar if you will – but for the Bender Art Contest I wanted to focus on one element.

I had always considered myself being a water bender, mainly because I've got some kind of physical connection to water (it’s pretty, it feels great, I'm always the one with the most wrinkly hands bc she stayed in the water for too long, stuff like that) – if I were a mythical creature I’d probably be a mermaid.

But for this contest I asked some of my friends who are in on Avatar what kind of bender I’d be in the Avatar universe, here just two examples:

One friend said, I’m earth, because I’ve “been steady, made it through everything despite the problems and always got back up. Literally solid as a rock.”

Another friend said I was fire: “Temper, passion, anger, excitement. […] The drive, the urge to see everything in life that might be interesting.”

I’d be proud to be an earth bender (bc Toph love duh), but I feel it’d be very connected to my rather dark past. I’d rather look up for the future so I drew myself as a fire bender because my friends description is really something I’d want to be. Because despite suffering from depression for many years now, the best times are those I feel on fire.
